Ok, I know what you’re thinking, “the girl who created a dateless planner has written a blog about why dateless planners are the best – who does she think she’s kidding?”
But hear me out here.
Some of you may not have purchased a planner in January this year, thinking you didn’t need one, or preferred to use the digital method. If that’s not working for you, should you really have to wait for the end of another year before you can start kicking ass?
Some of you might have gone full stinge (#nojudgement) and purchased a basic AF Kmart yearly planner and aren’t achieving anything you set out to do, because your planner is letting you down. Or worse, you started using it, got lazy or went on holidays and forgot to pick it back up and now you have a planner that’s only been half used, going to complete waste.
I don’t mean to alarm anyone, but it’s July people! There are less than 6 months left in the year and we’ve got work to do!
I could talk all day about why a dateless planner is the best type of planner, but I won’t waste any more than 10 minutes of your time with this carefully structured argument. It takes me back to my days in my High School debate team (yep, I was that girl)
1. You can start today
Gone are the days where your planner restricts you with January to December planning. At Canvast, we don’t believe in rules or the rigidity of a dated planner. There are women in the Canvast gang who have their ‘birthday’ planners, so they start on their birthday every year, or ‘business anniversary’ planners, who celebrate another year in business with a new Canvast, or the rebels who start WHENEVER THE F*CK THEY WANT, BECAUSE THEY’RE AN INDEPENDENT WOMAN AND YOU CAN’T TELL THEM HOW TO LIVE THEIR LIFE! Whoa, that was dramatic. But I learnt in debate that it’s good to be passionate about your topic of choice. What I’m trying to say is, you don’t need to wait for a new year to set yourself new challenges, to start planning your amazing goals or to achieve those big ass dreams. And a dateless planner allows you to start whenever you’re ready.
2. They allow laser-like focused organisation
When you take the time to sit down and fill in your planner, to structure your months/weeks and focus on what you’re doing with your time, you WILL achieve more. We are busy individuals, but a dateless planner allows you to better structure your daily life; from your business/career, your home and your family, your health and fitness, your finances and your goals. And it keeps all of these commitments in one place, instead of 6 different apps, 7 notebooks and 12 scrap pieces of paper you SWORE you just had with you.
3. They help you to form good habits
Instead of guessing when you’ll hit the gym, going grocery shopping with zero f*cking clue what you went there for, or starting your day without a plan of attack – a dateless planner is going to be the tool that you look to for guidance, for calmness and for direction. Before long, you’ll look forward to planning your days and setting yourself a structured week, full of good food, exercise and self care, and time to actually enjoy yourself instead of drowning in multiple to-do lists.
4. You can make it your own
Whilst there is room for to-do lists, self care and meals (just to name a few), the Canvast gang have been known to use their meal section for their ‘daily gratitude’ or their perforated to-do list as their grocery list – the Canvast was designed to be minimalist enough that it allows structure, but isn’t so rigid that you can’t give it your own personal flair. A dateless planner lets you adapt to whatever works best for you, because there’s nothing worse than using a planner that forces you to fill inside the lines when you wanna go full picasso on it’s ass.
Whilst I can’t speak for every dateless planner out there, the Canvast was designed to be an all-in-one tool, removing the need for multiple planners and notebooks and minimising the chaos we can experience when we’re serious #goaldiggers. Every Canvast comes with its own fabric protection bag, because you won’t want to leave home without it. But if you happen to, I dunno, take off to Italy for a month and go live your best life, you can rest easy knowing that you can pick up right where you left off when you come back. And can plan how to beat those post holiday blues.
If you haven’t yet joined the tribe of women who are designing their lives in a dateless planner, I encourage you to give it a try. You can check out the Canvast here.
